A Valentines Moon,

A Valentine Moon,

When the moon’s at her fullest, only then shall she shine,
Her misty blue light casts a spell so divine.
With grace and honor, the night she will conquer,
A moment of brilliance through darkness so somber.

Her time though is fleeting, and soon starts to wane,
Dawn’s presence is threatening to drive her away.
The rich ocher sunrise is dulling her form,
Her light and her beauty, for the moment are gone.

Unable to battle the day, she is waiting,
Veiled by the sun, she is patiently resting.
For tonight, she shall dazzle with elegant ease,
through a darkness so distant, so lonely, so bleak.

Obsession

~

Like a warm summer breeze, I cool your hot skin

I refresh you, revive you and draw myself in.

I cloak you and heal you and whisper your name

Breathing and sighing, and playing your game.

~

You seem unaware of my change of direction

As the air becomes colder you seek my protection.

You try to take shelter but I’m far too persuasive

You feel my storm building, and the wind is abrasive.

~

It’s too late to run; the hurricane’s found you

You try to stay up while tornados surround you.

I want you to realize I’m all that you needed

And without me beside you, you’re alone and depleted.

~

Battered and bleeding I flail at your skin

I’ve beaten you down, so you know that I’ll win.

Like the air that surrounds you, I’ll go on forever

Tearing away at your happiness for pleasure.

A valentine’s gift

The times in our lives we are forced apart,

I think of you.

With every shallow beat of my heart,

I think of you.

Hearing your voice when you’re not around,

I think of you.

Trying to find you when you don’t want to be found,

I think of you.

With every snowflake that melts in my palm,

I think of you.

Knowing we’ll be together again,

I think of you.

The Sun Versus The Moon …

You orbit the sun

I orbit the moon

Our future decided

The day we were born.

It’s written in the stars

And written in the tides

No straying from the paths

Gravity decides.

~

Yours is the sun

Mine is the moon

Two lives on the run

Will be over too soon.

Our paths must never cross

Opposing forces never meet

Avoidance of disaster

Is the peace we must keep.

~

Rainbows surround you

And I have the stars

From the beginning

We knew how it was.

These treasures complete us

Make us who we are

We must not betray them

Never shatter their hearts.

~

I hide from the sun

You hide from the moon

Transient skies

Guiding dusk through to dawn.

With destiny’s causeway

Imprinted in sand

The time for acceptance

Is almost at hand.

~

The sun is of fire

The moon is of ice

A conflict of elements

Paying the price.

Dousing your flames

Or thawing my heart

Would be catastrophic

So now we must part.

Lost Generations

Restless sands of time scattered across the hills

Over oceans, under bridges, across planes and through fields

They won’t stop nor slow down to acknowledge our here and now

For every moment, every second is being lost beyond the clouds.

 ~

Days roll into weeks, roll into months and then to years

Our short lives will be forgotten as new generations appear

Living for the moment; being grateful for all we’ve gained

Remembering those before us and the sacrifices they made

 ~

The pealing sound of laughter, children playing in the park

Trying to take this moment, make it their own and leave their mark

The children will soon be grown, they’ll take over when we’re gone

But they too will leave this world behind, for the next generation to embark upon

Weathering the storm

A cat amongst the pigeons

A shard beneath the sand

Fanned flames of discontentment

Doused into the ground.

~

Wild rivers of betrayal

Begin to flow with calm.

Beyond the dark horizon

Stars begin to form.

 ~

A bridge that once was broken

Is carefully restored.

The raging storm’s subsiding

In time for a new dawn.

~

Daybreak brings restitution

The sun’s not far away

The radiant atonement

Turns darkness into day.
